Miscellaneous Leps and Odes of the Lower Rio Grande Valley
Falcon State Park:Taken June 2008:
Hammock Skipper
Coyote Cloudywing
Eufala Skipper
Best guess is Obscure Sphinx
This series shows a Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillar first in the "nursery" next to the Rec Center (left), then making its way up the wall to a corner of the eaves, where it then attaches itself and becomes a pupa (right)! (APR 08)
Nysa Roadside Skipper (MAR 08)
Taken November 2007:
Male Julia
White-tipped Black Moth
Silver-banded Hairstreak
Two-barred Flasher
Banded Peacock
Greatly enhanced Curve-winged Metalmark; the bug was deep in the bushes and my camera refused to focus...
Soldier
Purple-washed Skipper
Orange-barred Sulphur
Great Purple Hairstreak, the right two photos showing that bizarre tail!
I thought I had a Yojoa here, but those who know better confirmed it as a Lacey's Scrub Hairstreak (more irregular median band and stronger cell-end bar). Not the best shots (the left one didn't even focus correctly so I had to do a heavy-duty sharpen)
Funereal Duskywing
Lantana Scrub Hairstreak
