Miscellaneous Leps and Odes of the Lower Rio Grande Valley
Berry Nalls' Yard:
Lyside Sulphur (APR 08)
Celia's Roadside Skipper (MAR 08)
Taken November 2007:
First US record of a Forrer's (or Guatemalan) Leafwing! Note how the tails look flat in the center picture (about six inches from my face at that point...)!
Happy campers enjoying this mega-rarity (circled in red)! Note the "hole" that would often appear between the forewing and hindwing! The three folks on the left are parishoners from Berry's church coming to see what all the excitement is about!
Another lifer, a Band-celled Sister, joins the leafwing for breakfast!
Question Mark
Guatemalan Cracker - they actually make a "cracking" sound with their wings when annoyed!
Red Rim with Fig Beetle (anyone know what kind of fly that is?)
Harlequin Flower Beetle (Thanks, Scott!)
"White" Large Orange Sulphur with a normal individual
Fatal Metalmark until proven otherwise...
Tropical Leafwing
Two-barred Flasher
