January 18, 2014 - Quinta Mazatlan & Edinburg Scenic Wetlands

A couple of Lesser Goldfinches were being particularly vocal in the parking lot; this recording ends with a bit of a song.

This Long-billed Thrasher was singing along a side trail.

One of many wintering House Wrens putting up a fuss in the new south wing.

This Inca Dove pair sat pretty at the feeder area and then came down for a drink!  (Check out those red eyes!)

Their wintering Wilson's Warbler gave its distinctive chep call by the mansion.

The south pond at the Wetlands had a mixed flock of Lesser Scaup, Ruddy Ducks, and two female Canvasbacks.

Female Canvasback.

Nutria that was spooked into the water by someone's dog...

The prize in the north garden was a Tropical Parula; listen very carefully for its chiddle-chiddle-zee-zee song in amongst all the chips of the Butterbutts!

More cooperative was this Black-and-white Warbler.

A Snowy Egret provides a high-contrast photo op at the Dragonfly Pond!

Curious White-eyed Vireo (the little bird with the big voice)!
