June 2, 2013 - Santa Ana "Back Road" Survey
Typical dawn chorus in the parking lot at Santa Ana (with White-winged Doves, a Cardinal, Brown-crested Flycatcher, Titmouse, House Sparrows, and a Golden-fronted Woodpecker)
When the Chachalacas wake up, that's the only chorus you hear!
Bullock's Oriole (song looped once) at the end of the Jaguarundi Trail (at the Rio Grande); listen hard at the end for the slow chatter (the bird had flown across the river by this point).
Exposed Bird-dropping Moth? (Along the Resaca Trail)
Mystery grass skipper near the Cemetery along the Owl Trail--opinions ranged from worn Liris to Fawn-spotted to Clouded, but I believe most settled on a worn Clouded. (I thought the white collar was interesting...)
Fresh Reakirt's Blue on the Jaguarundi Trail
